Classes in the Laveen Elementary School District resumed on Monday, August 7. Click on the links below for all the information you need for the new school year.
Our annual Meet Your Teacher Night is August 3 from 5pm to 7pm at all Laveen schools. Visit your child’s classroom, meet the school staff and other families, and complete any last minute paperwork. School starts August 7.
Beginning in August 2017, all students attending Laveen schools will be required to wear a student identification badge at all times while on campus or on the bus.
In addition to serving as school identification, the badges will contain a bar code for students to use as they go through the cafeteria line. Students utilizing Laveen’s bus transportation will also swipe their badge as they board and exit the bus. Read more about the Zonar bus pass system.
All Laveen schools, with the exception of Vista del Sur, are currently enrolling students for the 2017-18 school year. Visit any of our school offices Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to enroll your child.
In addition to registering your child for classes, you will also be able to
- Sign up for bus transportation
- Pay for lunch
- Submit health records
- Pay athletic fees
- Join the PTO
- Sign up for Kids Klub
Please bring the following documents:
- Proof of Residence (examples include: utility bill, rental agreement, mortgage statement, etc.)
- Child’s Immunization Record
- Child’s Original Birth Certificate (copies not accepted)
- Parent/Guardian’s Photo ID

*Please note, Vista del Sur is an accelerated school and students must take an assessment prior to enrolling. Paseo Pointe is a dual language immersion (DLI) school. Incoming kindergartners (beginning in 2017-18) must enroll in the DLI program (DLI will expand a grade level each year).

The Arizona Department of Health Services requires that all 11-year-old children entering sixth grade obtain two adolescent vaccines, Tdap and Meningococcal (MCV4). These new immunizations are important as they will provide protection against serious illness.
Tdap is a combination vaccine that provides protection against three bacterial diseases — Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough). Meningococcal prevents against four types of bacterial meningitis.
Parents should review their child’s immunization records. If these vaccinations have not been received, the child should obtain the vaccination at either their doctor’s office or an immunization clinic. Proof of immunizations will need to be received before the student can begin school on August 7.
Students who do not have these new, required shots will not be allowed start school. Children who are not yet 11 will be required to get the new immunizations once they turn 11.

The Salvation Army’s Kroc Center is inviting Laveen students and their parent/guardian to visit the center for free on select Fridays throughout the summer. View the flyer for details.
School might be out, but Laveen schools are serving breakfast and lunch to all kids all summer!
Children 18 years and younger may join us throughout the summer for nutritious breakfast and lunch. All kids’ meals are free. There are no income requirements and you do not need to register. Children do not need to be enrolled in a Laveen school to participate. The summer meal program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Breakfast is served from 7:00 am to 9:00 am.
Lunch is served from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Laveen is implementing a new bus pass system for the 2017-18 school year. Because safety is a primary concern of the Laveen School District, this bus pass system will tell our dispatchers if a student was on board and where they exited.
All school buses will be equipped with electronic card readers; new student ID badges that contain a chip will be issued to all bus riders. As students board and exit the bus, he or she will tap their badge against the reader. A green light will illuminate on the reader if the swipe is successful.
While these two measures won’t be fully implemented until August 2017, our front office staff is currently preparing for the new procedures which will take effect May 15, 2017. Transportation labels will be affixed to student badges. This label will contain the student’s route number and bus stop location. In the event a student boards the wrong bus or is unsure as to where they should exit, the bus driver can easily look at the sticker and ensure the student is where they should be.
As these two phases are implemented, it will be important that your child have their badge with them each day. We will never leave a student at the bus stop in the morning and will bring all students to school. However, a student who has forgotten their badge must report to their school office for a temporary pass for the ride home.
